RATINGS

95Wine Enthusiast

...succulent luscious Chardonnay is all about minerality. It's got a rich core of butterscotch and the seemingly endless layers of subtle flavors...

94The Wine Advocate

...a savory/chalky nose of struck match, crushed stones and lightly browned toast over a core of warm peaches, lemon tart and praline. Light to medium-bodied, it has a wicked backbone of crisp acid cutting through the intense stone fruit and savory flavors, finishing with epic length.

93Wine Spectator

Crisp and vibrant, with minerally quince and floral flavors, finishing on a spicy note. Has presence, complexity and depth...

93Vinous / IWC

Fresh honeydew, nectarine and pear on the highly perfumed and mineral-accented nose, complicated by hints of jasmine. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering an array of deeply concentrated yet lively orchard and citrus fruit flavors and a suggestion of gingery spices. Shows very impressive energy and cut on the mineral-laced finish, which features a suave floral quality and a touch of iodine.

91James Suckling

Aromas of cooked apples and lemons with hints of toasted oak. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a linear finish. Intense and bright.

17.5Jancis Robinson

Light matchstick aroma. Good tension and brightness of fruit. Lots of expression and tension. Really interesting...grippy wine.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, and it is the oldest appellation in Oregon. Oregon’s modern wine industry began in the Willamette Valley in the 1960s when artists, vagabond winemakers, and U.C. Davis oenology graduates looking for new territory started their own, small, off-the-grid wineries. The appellation is the state’s largest, and it extends 175 miles from Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border to just south of Eugene, near central Oregon. The Willamette River runs through the area, helping to give the appellation a mild year-round climate. There are six smaller sub-appellations within this AVA, but altogether the Willamette Valley has the largest concentration of wineries in Oregon, as well as the majority of the state’s most famous producers. Pinot Noir is king here, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. To most admirers of Oregon Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley offers the most distinctive wine choices in the state.

TYPE
