RATINGS

92-93The Wine Advocate

Displays hints of herbs and flowers, then pungent cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, metal shavings and crushed stone. Ripe spiced raspberry and cassis with soy-like savor make for an expansive rich display on the palate...

92Stephen Tanzer

Highly aromatic nose combines black cherry, licorice and minerals. Sweet, dense and stuffed with berries and minerals. Finishes long and vibrant, with wonderfully suave tannins and a sweet black raspberry flavor.

...an extremely stylish wine that combines both elegance and purity with precise, supple and rich flavors underpinned by obvious minerality, all wrapped in penetrating and transparent finish. I very much like this...

Haunting, deep, autumnal flavours. Lovely round, pure flavours. Great stuff. De Montille on a roll! Gorgeous confidence.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Pommard, Les Pezerolles

Les Pezerolles is a 15-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Pommard appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. Since there are no Grand Crus in Pommard, the Premier Crus have special importance. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “Pommard at its best is the fullest wine made in the Cote de Beaune.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
